Berlin is a huge city and can sometimes be exhausting. For relaxation, there lies the countryside of Brandenburg just outside Berlin to tempt you, with its thousands of lakes, its historic castles, palaces and monasteries, with moorland, pine forests, river valleys and avenues just like out of a children's picture book.

Potsdam is enticing with Sanssouci Palace and Park, the Dutch Quarter or the film studio at Babelsberg. Rheinsberg Palace, Chorin convent or the Spreewald can each be seen
in a day trip. Dresden is only 2 hours by bus.

For the technically inspired, it is well worth a visit to the amazing Schiffshebewerk in Niederfinow or to the Conveyor Bridge F60 in Niederlausitz which - over 500 metres long and 80 metres high - is the largest movable building in the world.

From December 2004 Tropical Islands Resort can be visited from Berlin. The bus-trip south-east takes 1 hour.
